Tidewater Area Shuttle
The Tidewater Area Shuttle (TWAS) is a series of daily flights between Langley AFB, Hampton, Virginia and Fort Belvoir’s Davison Army Airfield in Northern Virginia. The TWAS is available to all active duty military and federal government employees traveling on official DoD business. C-12 aircraft operated by TRANSCOM supports the TWAS.
Seats are reserved on a first come first served basis. If seat reservations are unavailable at the time of reservation, stand by numbers are issued. If a confirmed passenger cancels, stand by personnel are offered seating. Passengers requesting seats after 13:30 the duty day prior to the flight are not manifested, but may fly space available if empty seats come available. TRADOC Flight Operations must complete manifesting at 13:30 to allow TRANSCOM the opportunity to finalize manifests and notify the support unit.
Once a passenger receives a confirmed seat a completed DD Form 2768 Military Air Passenger/Cargo Request is faxed or emailed to TRADOC Flight Operations by the passenger’s flight scheduler NLT 1600 the duty day prior to the requested flight. When completing DD Form 2768 each passenger’s full name, rank/pay grade and duty position are included. You can use plain descriptive language in block 6, such as Langley AFB and Davison AAF for departure and arrival locations. Using local time instead of Zulu time is recommended. The TWAS always flies the same schedule so indicating +/- 2 hours on flight requests is not necessary. The en-route flight time is approximately 45 minutes. Cost of commercial travel is $551.00 per individual for each leg; required input for block 7. The senior passenger on your DD Form 2768 signs block 14f; this is a DOD requirement.
Ground transportation between Davison Army Airfield and the Pentagon is available to the first six scheduled passengers. Ground transportation to locations other than the Pentagon can not be arranged by Flight Operations.
