The Casemate Museum Foundation, Inc.

The Casemate Museum Foundation was organized late in 1983 in order to provide supplementary financial and educational assistance to the Casemate Museum, the home of the Army's Coast Artillery collection and the focal point of historic Fort Monroe.

Incorporated as a tax-exempt organization under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, 98 percent of all funds collected are used for the development and expansion of the Casemate Museum.

The Foundation has six plateaus of patron sponsorship. Donations may be one time only or they may accumulate; the total cumulative donation constitutes the plateau at which the patron is recognized. For example, a Donor at $35 becomes a certified Patron when the cumulative donation exceeds $100. A Patron at $100 becomes a Participating Patron when cumulative donation exceeds $500.

Patron's names are engraved on plaques by plateau on the Honor Roll in the Museum lobby. Individual plaques are repositioned when a patron moves from one plateau to another.

All patrons will receive copies of newsletters, certificates of membership, a ten percent discount on all purchases made in the Museum Gift Shop, invitations to Foundation functions, and full voting rights at the Annual Meeting of the Foundation. Patrons may be elected to hold office as directors of the Foundation.

The Casemate Museum is part of the U.S. Army Museum System and is funded by an appropriated budget. Appropriated funding becomes more limited each year, and because the Museum is excluded by law from receiving federal and state grants, the Casemate Museum Foundation fills an urgent and significant gap by providing extra resources necessary to preserve a part of our Nation's heritage.
