The KM Officer (KMO) directs the KM section, ensuring their organization understands all processes and procedures, maximizing value achieved through the unit’s knowledge, one of its most important assets. KMOs provide tools and techniques that make work easier, make leadership and the workforce more productive and effective, and improve overall organizational performance. A KMO also:
- Advises the executive leadership regarding KM activities and practices that can improve shared understanding throughout the organization
- Leads efforts to identify performance and knowledge gaps that impact the enterprise
- Directs the activities of the KMWG (KMWG)
- Synchronizes KM activities with higher headquarters and peer organizations
- Develops KM strategy, policy, and implementation plans
